BERKELEY, Calif. — In protest of a 32 percent increase in student fees, job layoffs and program cuts, students locked up in buildings, blocked exits and gathered outside at different University of California campuses. Campus police arrested more than 50 supporters Thursday and three on Friday. According to regents, fees increased because of the lack of state funding. -- The Associated Press, Nov. 20, http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gi_1CaTjFsR3j2QntpKsXZY0sP1gD9C3NLE00

  1. This is interesting. Good for those students for standing up for themselves! It is such a shame that people get arrested for speaking out for what they believe in. I have been to a few peaceful protests and I have never seen things get out of hand. Good job on your summary!

  3. Living close to this location, I have heard a lot of commotion about it. The price raises have made it much harder for students to continue education. Still, I can't help but wonder why students would spend time and energy protesting instead of filling out scholarships?

  4. I don't think people should get arrested for speaking for what they believe in. This is a great summary.

  5. Good job on your summary. I have to agree with Ashley I think that the students should spend more time filling our scholarships rather than protesting. It is important though to stand up for what you believe in.
